Methodology

Value

points above average

Value = ARC · ( possessions / 100 )

Value converts a rate into a total. ARC states how much a player contributes per 100 possessions. Value multiplies that rate by the possessions he actually played.

Two players with the same rate will not have the same Value. The player who advanced further, or who played more minutes per game, will have contributed more in total.

Value is therefore a measure of production, not of quality. It should be read alongside the rate, not instead of it.
