Methodology
Minutes-adjusted ARC
points per 100 possessions
adjARC = μ + ( ARC − μ ) · m / ( m + 400 ) , m = minutes playedMinutes-adjusted ARC pulls every rating toward the average of the pool. The strength of the pull depends on how many minutes support the rating.
A player with 400 minutes keeps half of his distance from the average. A player with 800 minutes keeps two thirds. A player with 150 minutes keeps just over a quarter.
The adjustment does not change what a player did. It changes how much confidence the rating expresses. It answers a different question from the raw rate: not how well a player performed, but how well he can be shown to have performed.
QualificationSame as the board on which it appears.
CoverageEvery postseason from 1997-98 to 2025-26.
Known failure modeEvery value moves toward the pool average, so adjusted ratings are compressed and must not be compared against raw ratings.
ReliabilityMore reliable than the raw rate on short samples.
