Pros: Large and strong frame, high motor, elite playmaker out of the post, amazing rebounder, very polished scorer around the rim, can shoot the ball at a high level, can very easily stretch the floor, extremely efficient, very comfortable in the pick in pop, great screen setter, great feel for the game, great body control, great footwork and can manipulate the defense with fakes and his eyes, offense is very NBA ready, very willing defender with good instincts Cons: Can be slightly slow footed on rotations or guarding one-on-one, as trouble moving in space, poor lateral movement and not a very good rim protector, will probably be limited to guarding non-shooting centers and slow forwards at least at the beginning of his career, not very fluid in his change of direction Ceiling: 2010-2012 Kevin Love Floor: 2012-13 Al Horford

High floor and high ceiling. A better version of Paolo

Boozer's game is very interesting. He plays well in the post, but is also capable of stepping out stretching the defense with his near 40% three point shooting. If there is one worry I have about Cam Boozer, it is that his release is a little bit slower, but I do think that he'll still find a way to be a really good shooter. He is great at making opportunities for others when he is in the post as well.

By most analytical metrics he was the best player in college basketball this year, but I have some concerns on how well his game will translate to the pro level. In terms of positives, he makes very good reads, and has good feel as a passer. Much like his father, he's as strong as an ox. He leveraged this strength in a major way at the college level. Played a lot of bully ball and commonly went straight through defender's chests. Because of this strength, he's a great rebounder on both ends. To me, he's just an average, to slightly below average athlete at the 4 in the NBA. Moves decent, but doesn't have vertical pop or explosiveness. Because of this, I don't think that he'll ever be a number 1 scorer on an NBA team, and there are also some defensive concerns. Not a rim protector at all. You can't give him the ball in an iso situation and say go get me a bucket. He's too slow to go around people and create. And while he'll probably still be able to go through the chest of some guys, a lot more of those plays are gonna get swatted at the NBA level, whether it's the primary or weak side defender. He made a ton of shots where he'd go into a guy's chest and then pump fake or pivot multiple times before hitting a highly contested, difficult shot around the rim. Those aren't NBA plays. Where I do think he'll thrive is as a screener in the pick and roll. He'll set great screens, and that will likely place him in positions where he's rolling to the hoop with an advantage and space. I don't like his shooting motion, and to me it isn't super projectable to the NBA 3 pt line. I also don't see any mid-range game at all off the dribble. To me he's a connecting piece. A 2nd or 3rd option on a good team. Some similarities to Sabonis (below the rim, subpar athlete, great passing feel, very physical and strong, mediocre shooting, no rim protection). See him as a high level starter to fringe All-Star, much like his father.

Boozer is a special talent who can score at the rim with ease. His playmaking has shown flashes, and he can absorb contact and get to the rim well. Some concerns with how he handles pressure, and some concerns about his translatability in the league, as he is a tweener between a four and a five. One of the top players in the NCAA for a reason.

Boozer man was watching him today against TCU, extremely strong, extremely extremely strong. The main thing with him is he's going to contribute to winning immediately. I don't know, once again, what his upside is and I'm going to be humble in saying that I haven't seen a 6'9" under the rim player contribute as a number one option on a team but if anyone was to break that mold pattern, it would be Boozer He is a supercomputer. At times his instinct and reaction to make these passes on the fly is cool. Throughout March Madness I've been seeing more and more of him putting the ball on the floor and getting to the spots using his strength. Yes there will be better athletes in the next league but I think to a certain degree he'll proportionally be as strong.

High IQ, strong connecting piece. So dominant in NCAA, I struggle to worry about the same deficiencies as other scouts. Not elite at any one thing, maybe short roll passing, but exceptional at nearly everything. Scouts and fans want Tatum, or Paolo but they are stuck in Duke brain. Boozer is some modern combo of Julius Randle, Jalen Johnson and Pascal Siakam. I think he’s Lamar Odom if he never did cocaine or met a Kardashian or played in Los Angeles. I dream of him in Indiana next to Hali. He may not have the explosiveness of the highlights of AJ and Darryn, but I would not be surprised if he dominates this draft class in advanced metrics 10-15-20 years from now

Tier 1

PHYSICAL - Little vertical pop - Is very strong definitely - Is not slow, but definitely not fast either for a big wing SKILLS - Suspect handle - His positioning is solid before he gets the ball, but on ball he is a bit erratic and just not a driver - Plays more like a 5 than a 4 on offense - Not too much cutting SHOOTING - Follow through hold on jumpers is lacking - A bit slow on the jumper but it looks good - Only really shoots off ball and stationary - Loads legs into jumper too much to abort FINISHING - Not the best vertical athlete but does get above the rim - Drives a bit slow and picks up the ball early - Some face up drive ability when catching ball in post - Really elite fundamental finisher, reminds me a bit of Tim Duncan - Does not shy away from contact, finishes through contact well PASSING - Can hit cutters on passes from post or top of key - Has good processing and solid vision - Can pass with one or both hands (much more confident with two hands) DEFENSE - Has great footwork and timing with decent positioning - Can play on perimeter and walls up decently well - His timing on steals is good - Strong post defender - Not a primary rim defender or even really a good secondary or help - Has some closeout issues on the wings and corners

Can Boozer, where do I begin? I'll start at the basic: Elite, Elite Prospect with Limited Superstar Upside. That is the crux of Can Boozer. Extremely strong, great positional strength. Love his mentality and his intangibles. He's a winner through and through. Productivity has to mean something and the way he's having an historical college basketball season for any player, let alone freshmen, is insane. Here are the main words I have from Can Boozer: 1. Defensively he will be a cone. He will have to take precautions to protect him on the backend. That says he will be a pretty horrid rim protector and won't have the foot speed to cover NBA wings and guards . 2. Offensively I'm not sure where he gets his shot from. Below-the-rim scorer at 6'9; the post-ups and the post-seals won't come as easily. 3. Though I have seen comps with Sangoon Sabonis, even Blake Detroit Blake Griffin, work so him being a secondary tertiary offensive hub is well within his outcomes.

Probably the best player of the big 3 right now. Dominant paint scorer when he gets a low post touch. High level set shooter. Used both hands around the basket and just bullies smaller players. Functional handle and has flashed an ability to attack closeouts and get downhill. Not a ton of face up stuff in isolations. Elite short roll playmaker and elite passer out of double teams. Sees the open man every time and catches the defense in rotation. Smart savvy defender but refuses to go guard guys on the perimeter. Not athletic enough to be a high level rim deterrent. Elite rebounder who can snatch the ball out the air with one hand. A bit too turnover prone due to lack of willingness to take favorable 1 on 1 matchups without surveying the defense first.

Ceiling Kevin Love If his 3pt shot is consistent 37%+ could be multiple time All NBA

I have Boozer as the second-best player in this class, only slightly ahead of Dybantsa, purely because of how polished he is. I believe he was the best player coming out of high school and still is the current best player in college basketball. His ability to blend perimeter shooting/playmaking with bruising post play is something almost unheralded at this level of basketball. His flexibility and ability to punish any mismatch regardless of where he is on the court are truly something special. I hear a lot of worries about whether his game will translate to the NBA. It is not something I really have any issues with because of how well-rounded a player Boozer is. His current shot selection won't translate, but I don't believe he will be the same player he is now compared to in a year when he is in the NBA. In high school, he constantly evolved as a player, playing on the perimeter, being a fluid mid-range scorer, flashing playmaking with traits that screamed high-level processor, and then completely switching into a bruising high-level post scorer. The main drawback I have with him will be how his defense translates. I have no issues with his offensive game whatsoever. He is not a guy you can rely on as a lockdown poa or post defender at the NBA level, he is not a rim protector by any means. He doesn't have the foot speed to keep up with guys on the perimeter, but he is someone that you will be able to put on a 2nd or 3rd option and be ok with, and with how polished he is offensively, that's what makes me so high on him. His best pathway to NBA stardom is a mix of post scoring and perimeter shooting coupled with his high feel and superb playmaking. I remember seeing a tweet that compared him to 2018-19 Pistons Blake Griffin, and thought it was the perfect comp for him now, but barely scratched the surface. I envision this as the middle ground between his floor and ceiling and truly believe that he will surpass this comp when his career is all said and done. He HAS IT
